The central research theme of this Center is the study of signal transduction mechanisms operating in normal or aberrant cells. The problems addressed in the Center are relevant to understand nerve cell function, hormone action, muscle physiology, cellular death mechanisms and cancer. The specific research areas include studies of signal transduction mechanisms involved in Calcium Signaling (C. Hidalgo and E. Jaimovich), Cancer (A. Quest), Steroidogenesis (L. Devoto) and Cell Death (S. Lavandero, A. Stutzin). In addition to this group of principal investigators, the Center has three research associates (C. Hetz, L. Michea, and D. Mears).
